Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent Far Cry instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for delighting in chaos and madness with similar glee, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed tales. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose work have embodied all of those things.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by introducing a fresh backdrop and group of personalities in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, daring sensibility to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
