The event occurred on Monday morning when an IED placed beneath a vehicle detonated, leading to the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov. Sarvarov held the position of the head of the armed forces' operational training department. Authorities indicated that one possible explanation points to the possible involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. To date, Ukraine has remained silent.
